Students put their knowledge to the test in the Brain Bowl competition

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERACongratulations to the ASIJ HS Brain Bowl team who came third in the Annual Kanto Plains HS Brain Bowl competition on October 11. After three weeks of practice which included naming the most common one hundred words in the English language, identifying unknown novels, and remembering whether Dorothy and Toto were whisked away from Kansas or Utah, these representatives of ASIJ’s academic prowess were well prepared for the competition. The two teams competed against each of the eight other school’s corresponding teams in a fun-filled day of topics ranging from subjects studied in class to current events. The team members were: Albert Corsten, Ricky Rowland, Edwin Zen, Mason Hall, Evan Gordenker, Matthew de Broize, Zach Smookler, Kevin Fowler, Max Luton and Abby Sneider. Further congratulations to Abby Sneider who, with 290 points, was the highest individual point scorer of the day and All Star patch winner. (Anita Gesling, HS Brain Bowl supervisor)
