Swimmers shine in the Mustang Invitational

The Elementary swim team just ended its season with a great win at the Mustang Invitational for the A team. The B team banquet was held on November 6 while the A team just finished up their season with their banquet on November 7. The combined teams had 160 members, 73 B team swimmers and 87 A team swimmers. Each swimmer was honored with individual awards presented by their lane coach. Special long standing awards went to Hritika Singh of the B team for 5 years of swimming and to Akira Hagiwara, and Anna Milles, five and six years on the A team, respectively. Led by Head Coach Karen Seevers and Assistant Coach Hiroto Yamamoto, seven HS coaches helped lead these swimmers in their lanes to improve their strokes, turns, dives, and touches. Four HS managers monitor the swim team study hall, set the meets up on Saturdays, helped the coaches, and did all the work it takes to get the banquets ready. Four life guards rotated on the chair to keep the pool safe at practices and at the meets. Team moms Claudie Moore and Brenda Snyder of the B Team and Abby Radmilovitch and Stephanie Toppino of the A Team headed up the parent pool of volunteers, without whom, we could not run the meets. It was all in all a wonderful season of learning for these young athletes, not only to be better swimmers, but supportive teammates, good sports men/women and for many, to learn the commitment it takes to be on their first organized sports team. Congratulations to all the swimmers, coaches, managers and parents for yet another great season! (Karen Seevers, ES Swim Coach)
