Sharing Lunches

At this time of year, our Pre-K and Kindergarten classes hold “sharing lunches.” At a sharing lunch every family brings in a special dish to
share with the rest of the class. Children and parents gather together  and taste each other’s treats. But a sharing lunch involves more than
sharing holiday food traditions. Prior to eating the children share  singing with their parents. They sing the songs that they’ve been  singing together all fall and some with special holiday flair. The  children sang about insects and plants from their units of study. They  sang their birthday song and songs of friendship, and they also sang a  Christmas and dreidel song. It is really the sharing of children’s  voices raised in song that makes our “sharing lunch” so special!
