Girls’ volleyball wins Far East championship in Guam

fareastvb3The bleachers were packed when our girls’ volleyball team went up against Kinnick in Guam. Coach Gail Lanier was struck in the eye by an errant ball during warm-ups prior to the championship match and had to be hospitalized and the team vowed to win the final for coach. Both teams played great volleyball, forcing each other to earn every point scored and fighting until the end of every set, but when it was all said and done, the Mustangs earned the victory over the Red Devils 25-16, 21-25, 25-20, 25-20, and with it the Far East championship for the second year in a row. Congratulations to Liz Thornton, who was named MVP for the second year in a row.
