Grade 7 visits Hiroshima as part of studies on Pacific War

This year’s extended campus trip to Hiroshima was a memorable experience for our 7th grade students.  In addition to Hiroshima, classes toured Kyoto on the first day of the trip and Miyajima on the final day.  The entire trip was the culmination of our integrated language arts/social studies unit on the “War in the Pacific.”  While in Hiroshima, students listened to an atomic bomb survivor (hibakusha), toured the Peace Museum and began a video project using the Peace Park as a backdrop. The Hiroshima trip continues to be one of the cornerstones of our 7th grade year. (Dan Smith, MS Language Arts/Social Studies)
