Shamisen masters share traditional melodies with the elementary school

On February 20, students in the elementary music classes of Karolee Kent and Jody Fuller were treated to a visit by two shamisen masters. Itchu-sensei, a grand master of Itchu-bushi school of shamisen and his son, Ryochu-sensei, a teacher of Joruri singing, presented a wonderful program of music, history and the culture of Japanese music for ASIJ students. ASIJ parent and FOFA member, Maya Moore assisted the musicians and spent the day providing translation. (Jody Fuller, ES Music)
