Taiko drumming troupe brings an interactive performance to the ELC

On February 11, a taiko drumming performance filled the ELC with great rhythm.  We are always so happy when our performance falls on a national holiday, as it did this year, so that moms, dads and little brothers and sisters are able to attend.  Literally, taiko means “big drum,” although there is a vast array of shapes and sizes of taiko.  We saw many of them during this electrifying performance.  This taiko troupe, Taiko Tamakko-za, is stunning in their appeal to young children.  Their performance was captivating for the children with their heart pounding beats, dynamic movement and stories to tell.  At the end, the children got to try their hand at playing these big, impressive drums.  (Judy Beneventi, ELC Director)
