As we approach the end of the school year, grade 2 students organized the work they are most proud of into a portfolio. Then, on May 17th a portfolio sharing event provided our students with an opportunity to reflect and share with his/her parents the growth they have experienced over the course of this year. The children worked very hard and rehearsed to get ready for the big event. The day started with a musical performance in the MPR. Ms. Fuller took the lead during this performance and helped the students’ musical talent shine through with the use of instruments and voice.
Following the musical performance, all second grade students grabbed their portfolios and found a comfy nook to sit in and share their work with their parents. Prior to the big day, students had chosen several pieces that were especially meaningful to them, and could not be missed by their parents. The students were also given the opportunity to share a balance and motion or iPad activity with their parents, which allowed them to take the role of the teacher.
The sharing time concluded with parents staying for lunch and smiles all around. (Jennifer Brown, grade 2 teacher)
