For the second consecutive year, ASIJ’s high school cheer teams participated in a four day cheer camp led by instructors from the National Cheer Association, USA. Returning to coach the team were the top and most experienced instructors from NCA, the husband and wife team of Eric and Kayla Gibson. Thirty-four ASIJ cheerleaders along with coaches Amy Mills and Chris Johnson enjoyed this intensive and highly successful camp which sets the platform for Mustang cheer for the Fall and Winter seasons.
The camp is such an exciting and challenging experience we certainly will repeat it again. In 2012 the seniors in Cheer called the camp “their best cheer experience ever,” and now the 2013 seniors say “this year’s camp was better than last year’s!” Coaches Gibsons’ know our program, student and coaches very well, and camp was able to pick-up and progress farther thanks to the foundations established last year. Good luck to our cheer teams as they continue training for the Fall and Winter seasons. (Brian Kelley, Director of Activities & Athletics)
