Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde creeps onto the ASIJ stage

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde was the high school’s fall play pick this year. In this creative adaptation by Jeffrey Hatcher the familiar story of mild-mannered Dr. Jekyll’s transformation into evil and murderous Mr. Hyde is given a few twists. In this version, several of the actors play Mr. Hyde, often at the same time.

The play required actors to explore characterization through effective use of face, body, and voice. The eerie horror show environment was created by several crews of students working on set, lights, make-up, and costume as well as a string ensemble playing in the gridded catwalk above the crowd. All four shows were sold-out and audience response was enthusiastic.  (Rebecca Gessert, HS Play Director)
