Varsity Girls’ Volleyball are the undefeated Kanto League and Far East Champions

This year is the third year in a row for the Girls’ Varsity Volleyball team to come home as the Far East Champions, so as the team says “Three-peat!’

The Mustangs once again faced the Kinnick Red Devils in the finals in Guam, winning solidly in three straight sets. The team was comprised of four returning players: seniors Liz Thornton, Katey Helwick and juniors Mia Weinland, Alex Hernandez and five new underclassmen: Jenna Doyno, Asa Toyoda, Sammie Hoskins, Julia Sasanuma and Elyse Davidson, who combined to form a unified, spirited and talented group of young ladies.

Throughout the season they compiled a record of 21 -0 in matches, winning 58 sets and losing 1.  Liz Thornton was a Far East All Star and Mia Weinland the MVP of the Far East Tournament. The Mustangs were an outstanding group of ladies who entertained the fans with their talented play and positive attitudes both on and off the court.

Congratulations to the 2013 Mustang Varsity Volleyball team on a terrific season! (Gail Lanier, Volleyball Coach)
