The middle school’s Movie Production Club screened their latest film, IMP, at Ricketson Theater on February 16th. The film has gone from conception, to production and screening in only the past few months. If you missed the opening screening, IMP can be downloaded at ASIJ TV.
Aided by magical powers, a mischievous Imp is required to make a human friend in order to earn her tail. Twice failed in this seemingly simple task Imp, has one last chance; failure means suffering a lifetime of taillessness. Imp’s latest target struggles with where she belongs and feelings of being unnoticed by her peers. In her attempts to befriend this lonely soul Imp’s plans never quite go as hoped.
Filming for IMP took place at various locations around campus as students in the Movie Production Club rehearsed scene after scene to perfect some tricky shots. Among these tricky shots were many that included Imp’s magical powers, which were put on full display through the use of green screens and crafty post-production.
As always, students handled nearly every step of production from film, lighting and sound to costumes and advertising. Guided by Dave Neale (HS/MS Film and Theater Teacher) and Catherine Berghahn (MS Math Teacher), IMP was a hit amongst the middle school student body.
