Jennifer Brown (elementary school teacher) briefly describes a recent grade 4 trip to see some unique creatures at the Shinagawa Aquarium.
As part of our science unit on the structures and functions of animals, the fourth graders traveled to the Shinagawa Aquarium on Monday, Oct 16. Students were excited to observe living creatures as they watched closely how external structures serve various functions in growth, survival, behavior and reproduction.
Students smiled from ear-to-ear as they walked through the underground world of creatures, passed through subaquatic tunnels and awed at the massive shark-infested tanks. Everyone also enjoyed a dolphin and seal show that the aquarium provided. It was definitely an experience the fourth graders will remember—one that teachers will continue to plan for future students.
