ASIJ 34 – Nile C. Kinnick 13
Three weeks ago at the 2013 Spirit Day game, ASIJ won an exciting, back and forth and hard fought game with the Kinnick Red Devils, 33-27. But Friday, October 11, was a different story.
From the Star and Stripes, October 11, 2013 by Dave Ornauer: “With the win (34-13), the Mustangs (5-0) swept the season series from Kinnick and captured their first Kanto Plain Association of Secondary Schools title since 2009…..” (full article)
The Mustangs Varsity team has averaged 39 points a game with an entertaining balance of running and passing, and a defense that has consistently forced turnovers, many at crucial times. Even with two home games remaining, (October 25 with Edgren HS; November 1 with Yokota HS) the Kanto titled has been sealed.
Not to be outdone, the Mustangs JV also is 5-0 and averaging an equally impressive 37 points per game. In the year when ASIJ is live streaming home games (ASIJ TV), the offensive display of ASIJ football arrived at just the right time. (Brian Kelley, Director of Activities & Athletics)
