Now it’s our turn: students take the reins in One Act plays

Since the One Acts are designed to allow actors of all levels of experience to shine and are intended to let students run the show, Kyra Katagi, high school senior and ASIJ Thespian Club President, weighs in on this year’s collection of six One Act plays and a two-act musical. (Melissa Boehman, Sponsor of One Acts and the ASIJ Thespian Club)

Every year students write, direct, act and produce for their own One Acts to perform for two nights to a full house. This time around, the audience was in for a special treat: a teacher exclusive One Act was directed, along with a two-act musical, composed, scored and choreographed to perfection!

With two extra weeks of preparation, the seven actors were able to comfortably rehearse and balance their academic work. For the seniors (most of which had done the One Acts all four years) it was a fun and cathartic experience, carrying out their last high school winter years.
