The gymnastics unit is part of our dynamic Middle School PE curriculum, offering students a chance to explore movement in a creative way! Students are challenged to create a performance piece with a group, using rolls, inversions, transition movements and equipment to demonstrate their creativity. Today they worked on perfecting the performance piece, making sure to include a variety of techniques while also staying in sync with each other and their musical piece—not an easy task! They had visual charts (resembling a drawn storyboard) of their performances as a reference and were busy jotting notes and making updates as they worked within their group to adjust the routine. It was a great activity to combine creativity, teamwork, and fitness. (Amy Vriend, Pete Vriend and Aaron Rogers, MS Physical Education)
