Jean Caskey (Early Learning Center Director) writes about the Early Learning Center’s Fall Family Festival, an annual event welcoming families and students for a day of activities, food and fun.
Fall Family Festival! What a fun day it was at the ELC with all of the special events all around the school. The ELC Fall Family Festival was held on a beautiful cool fall day, October 7, with an amazing 98% attendance rate by ELC Families.
Our teachers arranged an array of activities such as disco dancing, face painting, rainbow toast, pasta necklaces, fan and wand decorating, and a yogurt bar for the enjoyment of students, parents and faculty. The ELC PTA provided additional games and balloon making as well as pizza. Balancing the festival-favors, parents also brought veggies, fruit and dessert for a delicious lunch in the classroom. Lots of siblings were present and parents, children and teachers donned black and gold to show their ASIJ spirit!
The Fall Family Festival is one event that is greatly treasured by our ELC children and families. One kindergarten student was overheard asking if she could come back next year, even after she goes to Chofu for Grade 1! Another parent commented that attending the festival at the ELC felt like he was in a home, admiring the comfortable, nurturing community environment. What a nice thing to say! We want everyone who visits to feel that the ELC is home.
Not only did we usher in the fall season with all these fun activities, but the event and setting provided a wonderful community spirit-building opportunity.
